Batch Water Load and Ice Capture Check

The ceiling on a freeze-drying batch is not tray area, it is how much water the condenser can hold as ice before the cycle ends. This check turns your charge and moisture figures into kilograms of water, then puts that against the ice capture published for each model.

What this check assumes

  • Water removed is a solids mass balance. Solids stay constant, the finished mass is those solids at your target moisture, and the difference is the water the condenser has to capture.
  • Ice capture figures are the published per-batch values for each model. They are a ceiling for a whole batch, not a rate.
  • The 15% headroom threshold is our own planning margin for delivery-to-delivery moisture variation. It is not a standard.
  • Anything outside the published moisture range returns nothing rather than an unsafe-looking number.

Ask any supplier for kilograms of water captured per batch, then run that figure against your own product before you put two quotations side by side. Tray area on its own tells you nothing about whether the cycle finishes.
