Water-Load and Shelf Area Calculator

Rungs 1 to 6 of the Water-Load Ladder. Enter your product and this works out how much water actually has to leave the chamber, and how much shelf that batch needs.

Your Product

Total wet weight of raw material prepared for processing.

Water fraction of the fresh product as it arrives at the freezer.

Must be lower than incoming moisture. This is the finished specification you have to meet.

Set by piece size and how the product packs on the tray. Establish it by trial, not by assumption.

What These Numbers Are For

  • Water removed per batch is what the condenser has to trap, so it drives condenser sizing rather than chamber volume.
  • Finished weight is almost always a small fraction of the fresh weight, which is where buyers most often mis-size.
  • Shelf area is the batch divided by loading density, so packing the trays harder does not create free capacity.
